This is our Student Handbook page. It contains the information you will need as a student at Everything Goes Dance Studio. Our front desk staff and faculty are always available to answer questions and help with issues like choosing the best classes, getting the proper dance attire and shoes, preparing for class and performances, and improving your dance skills.

Dance Class Attire: For best quality and functionality, purchase all dance shoes at professional dancewear outlets such as our boutique, Creative Dance, Showbiz Dancewear in OKC. Go to our Links page for more info. Ballet shoes sold at outlets like Target and Walmart are not meant for dancing.  Please consult your instructor before purchasing any dance shoes.

General Appearance: For ballet, hair should be in a neat bun. Use a hairnet if required. For other classes, hair should be in a ponytail or bun. No hair in the face, please! Dancewear should be clean and well maintained, and the proper shoes should be worn for each class. Please do not wear jewelry to class. Do not wear panties underneath leotards. NO GUM!

Students should wear the class uniform as described below.

You may purchase uniform items at our dance boutique or a professional dance outlet. Students may wear a Studio T-shirt as warmup gear.

Instructors will teach students the proper method of wearing and maintaining pointe shoes.

Everything Goes Dance Studio Uniforms:

Preschool, K-1st Ballet: Pink tights, pink leotard, pink ballet shoes*. Ballet skirt is optional; please make sure that it is attached to the leotard.

Ballet & Pointe: Pink tights, black leotard, pink split-sole ballet shoes*. Consult with pointe instructor before purchasing your pointe shoes. Bring the ballet and pointe shoes and elastic and/or ribbon to your first class; the instructor will show you exactly where and how to sew them on. No dance skirts, please.

Tap: Wear comfortable clothing (shorts are fine) and black tap shoes with flat heels. either slip-on or tied shoes are fine. Tap shoes should be purchased from a dance boutique (not a discount shoe store).

Jazz: Dance tights or black dance pants/shorts; leotard; black jazz shoes*.

Modern: Footless tights, black sleeveless leotard, bare feet.

Hip-Hop: All white sneakers (no black soles, please!). Please reserve these sneakers for dance class only. Wear clothing that allows free movement - cargo dance pants, sweat pants, etc. Wear a hat or bandana to look the part! No denim pants or shorts.

Flamenco, Mexican Folkloric: Flamenco skirt or folkloric practice skirt, tights or socks, black leotard, black flamenco or folkloric shoes* with nails. These are available through the studio; consult staff. Custom-made flamenco costumes, ordered through the studio, will be worn for performances. Please consult staff. For performances, dancers wear fishnet tights for Flamenco, suntan tights for Folkloric.

Salsa & Latin: Women: Comfortable dress, skirt or pants; dance shoes. Men: Clothing that allows easy movement, leather-soled shoes that you can dance in. Instructor will advise on performance apparel.

Males: For Jazz & Ballet: Black jumpsuit or plain white or black t-shirt with black dance pants, and black dance shoes* appropriate for class. Consult with instructor for other class attire.
